                      First Holy Communion 2008 4

Pre-K thru 12th Grade Religious Education Class Pre-Registration dates for new and returning students for the 2013 – 2014 Catechetical year:  April 14, 2013, May 5, 2013, August 11, 2013 & August 25, 2013 between 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in room "A" in the Church all.  Please bring any new students Baptism and Birth certificate.  If they have received First Holy Communion, please bring that certificate as well.  

Our first class/parent orientation was on Sunday September 8th (pre-k thru 6th grade) and Wednesday September 11th (7th - up).  A parent or and adult representing the parent should come to the classroom with the student.  The Catechist will go over our program and give out any schedules, etc. at that time.  Then the parents will be dismissed and Catechist and students will resume with the 1st class. 

If you miss the registrations prior to the classes starting, please note:  There will be NO registrations excepted during the first classes.  There will be NO exceptions to this rule.  The registrations we will have after the classes start will be held on Sunday September 15, 2013 & Sunday September 22, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.   Any classes missed due to late registration are counted towards the allowed number of absences.                                      

Class Registration Non-Refundable Fees:                                       

As of September 1, 2009, the registration fees will be as follows:         

Early Registration for Registered and Supporting Members (January – August) One Child - $40.00 Two or more children - $50.00 (family rate).  Early Registration for Non-Registered Members (January – August) One child - $50.00 Each additional child - $15.00 per child.  Late Registration for Registered and Supporting Members (September – December) One Child - $50.00 Two or more children - $60.00 (family rate).  Late Registration for Non-Registered Members (September – December) One Child - $60.00 Each additional child - $15.00 per child. 

First Holy Communion and Confirmation II students will have an additional charge of $10.00 per student will be charged to help pay for the additional materials used during the Sacrament year.                                                                                     

Documents that MUST be turned in at time of registration: 

  • Baptism Certificate (if child has not been Baptized, you will need to supply one of the parents Baptism Certificates)
  • Birth Certificate
  • First Holy Communion Certificate (for those students that have already received their First Holy Communion)
  • If your child is preparing for a Sacrament and attended the previous year of preparation at another Parish or in a Catholic School, you will need to supply a letter from that Parish or School.  The letter must state the students name, grade, year, number of classes attended, number of classes absent and the letter must state that the student received Sacrament preparation classes during that time for the specific Sacrament they are preparing for

 Welcome to our 2013/2014 Religious Education program.  We look forward to working with you in the formation of your child’s faith in the Catholic Tradition. For students in pre-K thru 6th grade classes are scheduled during three sessions on Sundays.  Session I begins @ 9:00 a.m., Session II begins @ 10:30 a.m. and Session III begins @ 12:00 p.m.  The Sunday sessions last for 75 minutes.  The start date for the Sunday classes is September 9, 2012.  For students in 7th – up preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation classes (Confirmation I & II) are on Wednesday evenings 6:45 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.  The start date for Wednesday classes is September 12, 2012.  The first class is also a parent orientation.  A parent or and adult representing the parent should come to the classroom.  The Catechist will go over our program and give out any schedules, etc. at that time.  Then the parents will be dismissed and the Catechist and students will continue with the class.  The pre-K and Kindergarten students will be using the Image of God series by Ignatius Press.  The 1st – 8th grade students will be suing the Faith and Life series by Ignatius Press.  The 9th – 12th grade and adults will be using the St. Joseph’s New American Bible, The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Compendium.  The CCD classes do not take the place of Sunday Mass.  Children are required to attend Sunday Mass (or Saturday Vigil) regularly.  Mass attendance sheets are given out to the students and the student is responsible for going to the Religious Education staff after each Mass they attend on the weekend and having a sticker placed on the sheet.  After the Saturday evening Vigil Mass, they can get a sticker in the lobby.  After all Sunday Masses, they can get a sticker in the hall.  On those days that the Religious Education Office is closed, parents may initial their child’s Mass attendance sheet.  All Mass attendance sheets should be turned in at the end of the Catechetical (CCD) year.  Be sure that we have your child’s baptism and birth certificates on file in the Religious Education Office.  If during last year your child attended sacrament preparation classes at another Parish, please be sure to supply a letter from that Parish.  If your child received First Holy Communion at another Parish, please be sure that we have a copy of the certificate on file in our Religious Education Office.  Be sure to read the parent/student handbook in full with your child or children.  Be sure to review the dress code with your child or children.
